Basecamp for Renovators
Renovations can, at times, be very hard to keep track of–depending on the scope of the project. From the purchasing of new appliances and hardware, to ordering flooring supplies, paint, and keeping a running schedule of how all these components will come together in a timely manner to get your renovation done in the most efficient way possible.
Basecamp has been widely used for managing small businiesses involved in marketing, sales, and service industries, but renovation companies and small renovation businesses can harness the power of Basecamp to properly manage their projects.
Here’s how Basecamp can be utilized by Renovators:
To DOs:
Set up multiple To Do’s for your project. The entire scope of your project can be set up in the To Do’s section. Renovation projects can be broken up as a main category that could be the specific room being renovated. For example: Dining Room – and within that category you can input everything pertaining to the dining room and your renovation, such as: order hard wood flooring, new chandelier, install new recessed lighting.

Milestones:
Set certain dates of completion for different projects or for rooms within a renovation. You can put any short or long term goal for the project(s) in the milestone section and gauge how on track you are to either meet your clients needs or your personal needs.
Writeboard:
Notes on projects can be collaborated in this section, and can be clearly visible by all those involved with the renovation that has basecamp.
The most useful aspect of renovators and basecamp:
Client monitoring. I know I’m not alone when I say one of the largest problems clients of renovators have is difficulty having a grip on what the status of projects is, how long until it’s completion (or completions of different sections), and when they can get on with their normal lives. With basecamp, the client will be able to log on, and see exactly where the milestones are set, how much has been completed, put notes of their own in for the renovator(s) to see–for instance, ” I will be out of town Friday, the key is under the mat” or “the paint that arrived for the dining room is the wrong color, it’s supposed to be …”.
